My Favourite Sport

 My favourite sport is volleyball. Volleyball is a competition between two teams of six players, one on each side of a net. These marks should be obtained according to an accepted set of rules. Normally points are scored by the opponent throwing the ball to the field. This is a weakening of the opposition. Volleyball is also the national sport of sri lanka. It has been named since 1991. 

The highest governing body here is FIVB. It was first played on February 9 1895 at Holyoke USA. This was in the early days of William G Morgan called it Mintonet. William G Morgan  is considered the founder of the sport of volleyball.
The game of the volleyball was introduced to ceylon in 1916 by the American Robert Welter Camac. 
Accordingly, some of the skills in the game of volleyball are offering the ball, picking up the ball, lifting the ball, attacking, blocking and defending the field.

               Today it has become a very popular sport in sri lanka.

Mr. W. D. Amaradewa

  He was born on December 5, 1927 in Moratuwa. His musical career began at an early age. Amaradewa was educated at sri saddharmodaya mixed school. He received his secondary education from sri samangala vidyalaya, panadura. After that he entered Kaluthara vidyalaya and Balapitiya siddhartha vidyalaya.              He is best known as a respected artist who nurtured the field of sinhala music in North Indian Ragadhari music. He combines classical instruments such as sitar, tabla and harmonium with sinhala folk music and bharatha folk music. He is known as the Great Gandharwa of the Hela. My Favourite Book

 One of my favourite books is sherlock Holmes. I also have a large collection of books in the sherlock Holmes series. Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character created by sir Arthur conan Doyle, a physician and writer educated at Edinburgh medical college. He is a London based advisory detective who specializes in solving difficult problems using his intelligence and logic. Holmes first appears in a 1887 publication, then unfolds in four novels and fifty six short stories. The first novel A study in lohitha colour was published in beaton's Christmas anniversary magazine. Also, the character's popularity grew exponentially with the first series of short stories in strand magazine, beginning with the Bohemian crisis in 1891. This sherlock Holmes series is a series of mysterious stories. There sherlock Holmes and his friend John H. Watson solve these mysteries.
